Register captain interest, then complete payment only if approved.

How captain registration works: You first register your interest and create a member account. Our admin team reviews your application. If approved, you receive a secure payment link to complete the same annual £20.00 membership fee and activate captain access. This is not an extra £20 on top of membership.

Captain career benefit: After a minimum of 6 months of active captain volunteer service, MERC issues a free professional Diversity & Inclusion Job Reference email. This reference updates every 6 months while captain service continues.

Captains should be visible leaders who consistently attend weekly runs.
Captains are expected to support and motivate members in their city/community.
Captains communicate updates clearly in-app and keep run information current.
Captains promote a safe, respectful and inclusive running environment.
Captain access is granted after admin approval and annual membership payment (£20.00).

DBS background check consent

I consent to MERC carrying out a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) background check as part of the captain approval process.
